Application

The devices of the series Precont MT - Precont KT - Precont CT with integrated analogue evaluation electronic are compact pressure transmitter for continuous measurement of pressures from -1 up to 1000 bar in gases, steams, liquids and dusts within closed container or pipelins, also in explosive hazardous areas, at process temperatures from -40°C to +100°C.

The use of a capacitive measurement sensor with ceramic membrane or of a strain gauge with alternatively ceramic or metallic membrane and the respective excellent characteristics allows the use in nearly all fields of the industrial environment.


Function

Characteristic of the metallic strain gauge measurement membrane - Precont MT
The system pressure is applied to the metallic membrane and produces a  deflection of the back side mounted polysilicone resp. thinfilm strain gauge. At measurement ranges from 0...25 bar and smaller the pressure is transmitted to the polysilicone strain gauge by a pressure transmitter liquid. The metallic membrane offers excellent characteristics like high pressuren and pressure blow resistance up to 5-times the nominal pressure, vacuum resistance, good reproduceability and hysteresis, as well as good long term stability and low temperature influence.

Characteristic of the dry ceramic strain gauge measurement membrane - Precont KT
The system pressure is applied to the ceramic membrane and produces a deflection of the back side mounted thick film strain gauge. The ceramic membrane offerss excellent characteristics like high pressure and pressure blow resistance up to 4-times the nominal pressure, vacuum resistance, very high resistance against chemicals, corrosion and abrasion, very good insensitiveness against temperature shocks, high accuracy and reproduceability, good long term stability and low temperature influence.  

Characteristics of the dry ceramic capacitive measurement membrane - Precont CT
The system pressure is applied to the ceramic membrane and produces a variation of the back side mounted capacitor. The ceramic membrane offers excellent characteristics like highest pressure and pressure blow resistance up to 40-times of the nominal pressure, vacuum resistance, very high resistance against chemicals, corrosion and abrasion as well as goot insensitiveness against temperature shock, highest accuracy and reproduceability, good long term stability as well as a very low temperature influence.  

Signal processing
The pressure signal that is transferred from the membrane to the capacitive measurement sensor resp. to the strain gauge is converted into an electrical signal that is converted by the integrated evaluation electronic into a current signal 4...20 mA resp. a voltage signal 0...10 V.
