To protect our natural water sources and support drinking water production, pollutants must first be removed from all wastewater before it is reintroduced into the water cycle. Various processes are used to treat water and maintain the best natural water quality. In general, wastewater treatment can be divided into two basic types. On the one hand, problematic substances are removed from the water. This is done by cleaning, removing iron, removing manganese, sterilizing, desalting or softening. On the other hand, substances are added selectively to improve the quality and influence parameters such as pH or conductivity.
